Drunk Driving Deaths Decrease

According to the Department of Transportation, drunk driving, fatalities have declined in recent years. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) states that much of the progress is due to eight states mandating ignition interlocks for convicted drunk drivers. An ignition interlock requires a driver to breathe into a breathalyzer and have a legal blood alcohol level for the car to start.

Enhanced law enforcement has also helped, according to the organization.

New Mexico has experienced a 35% decrease in drunk driving fatalities since implementing ignition interlocks in 2005.

While prevention is the key, some drivers are still making the regrettable choice to drive under the influence. If you have been hurt by a drunk driver, contact Jeff Davis today.
